NRC-FOSS is a project funded by the DIT (Department of Information technology) of the Government of India to promote FOSS in India. This site is an unofficial site maintained by the Anna University wing of NRC-FOSS to faciliate it's activities.

The primary activity of NRC-FOSS at AU-KBC, Anna University has been to promote FOSS in higher education in India. To this end we have conducted numerous faculty development programmes throughout the country, have created syllabi for two FOSS electives that have been introduced in Anna Universtiy, published textbooks for the electives and have developed a FOSSLAB server which is an offline resource for the setup and maintenance of a FOSS lab. This site is dedicated to being an interactive tool for furthering the activities of NRC-Foss. It hosts the various projects hosted on our server and a wiki for discussion and development of the projects, syllabus for foss electives, textbooks for the electives and will host an interactive question bank
However, the main purpose of this site will be to encourage and reward production of foss code. We will provide full hosting as well as repositories for any viable open source project as well as arrange for mentors to guide the developers. Any working project hosted with us will also be eligible for a certificate and our team will also help market the product
