Details: The workshop commenced with an introduction by Prof Kodavade, who gave information about NRC-FOSS and about the efforts taken by DKTES to introduce free software in the college and to build up the NRC-FOSS node. He announced that Shivaji University will be introducing free software in the core curriculum for the 3rd year students from this year. The inaugural meeting was also attended by Professor Mrs L R Admuthe HOD department of Computer Science, DKTES. Prof ... of DKTES was coordinating the workshop. 1. How to use the tools of open source programming - setting up, maintaining, editing wikis, ticket and bugtracking, version control systems, mailing lists and IRC and, of course, some shell scripting. 2. As nearly all LAMP applications use apache, setup, configuration and finetuning of Apache. Most important, setting up virtual hosts. Some elementary details of memory management also 3. Introduction to the popular scripting languages used in LAMP - python, php and ruby 4. Creating, maintaining and using databases - mysql, postgresql and sqllite. 5. Putting it together using web frameworks - cakephp, django, rubyonrails 6. They should already be familiar with html, css and javascript - so this may be left out?
