How Tamil Remington Layout for SCIM was created
- Parimala created a mapping between each Tamil character and the corresponding key(s) that need to be pressed in an English qwert keyboard. Parimala knows Tamil typing and visited a nearby typing institute to confirm all aspects of the layout.
- Hariram checked and modified the layout file. and created a SCIM table based on SCIM table howto and SCIM's Tamil phonetic layout
- Srinivasan made corrections to the layout based on feedback from users at ELCOT (see source)
- The TamilRemington?-1.2-1.i386.rpm fixes the double space bar problem. The older rpm can be found here. Similarly here is the ver 1.1 tar file
- The spec file used to generate the ver. 1.2-1 rpm can be found here .
