Project Analysis

The project titled "IMAGE PROCESSING TOOLBOX FOR SCILAB" aims at creating an advanced and user friendly image processing toolbox for a popular open source scientific software called SCILAB.

When compared to the existing toolbox “SIP (Scilab Image Processing toolbox)”, our toolbox is more user-friendly and depends on very few libraries like ImageMagick and OpenCV. Even though the SIP toolbox is an open source project, their methods of interfacing libraries are not very transparent.

In this project we try to overcome some of the obvious problems faced in SIP by deriving a methodology to interface new libraries to the Scilab and making it less dependent on other libraries like ANIMAL etc.,

The main contribution of this project is to analyze Scilab and come up with a user friendly method of creating toolboxes for Scilab. In order to make the entire process transparent we also give out a programmer's manual with appropriate examples.
